There is a hidden paradise in Morotai

Morotai Island is located in Halmahera Islands, which is included in North Maluku Province, Eastern Indonesia. Morotai is one of the outer islands in Indonesia. The area is only 1,800 square kilometers, but like many people say, Morotai is 'small chillies'. Its beauty is biting.

As an island bordering the Pacific Ocean and the Philippines, Morotai used to be used as Japan's defense base during World War II. After that, the island was taken over by the Allies and used as an airstrip to attack the Philippines and East Borneo. But, long before that, in the 15th and 16th centuries, Morotai was under the Ternate Sultanate.

Therefore, this island has a lot of historical strokes. There are many war relics such as hiding caves, airstrips, as well as armored vehicles that are still intact despite rusting. One of the famous caves named Nakamura, which became a hiding place for Japanese soldiers after Morotai Island was taken over by the Allies. 'Nakamura' comes from the name of the Japanese army itself, which is said to be hiding there for 30 years!

One of Japan's most famous relics is the wreckage of a Bristol Beuford plane that sank at a depth of 40 meters, in the ocean south of Morotai. The existence of this plane carcass is an introduction to marine tourism in Morotai.

Only that? Of course not!

Many people say, Morotai is 'Heaven in Eastern Indonesia'. This refers to its underwater wealth, with more than 25 diving spots that offer unparalleled beauty. There are Tanjung Wayabula, Dodola Point, Batu Layar Point, Tanjung Sabatai Point, to Saminyamau. Everything is wonderfully beautiful, with clear blue waters. Its marine life is infinite, living between manicured coral reefs and the remains of ship wrecks.

The natural beauty of Morotai Island is not only reflected through the underwater, but also on the land. A vast expanse of white sand is ready to spoil the eyes of anyone who set foot on it. Panorama of sunrise and sunset became one of the most anticipated moments by tourists, which apparently still rarely came there.

The most efficient way to get to Morotai is by pioneering flights from Ternate to Galela, then proceed to Morotai. When you get there guaranteed you won't be disappointed.
