Lompong cake, characteristic Purworejo City

This sweet black cake is called Lompong Cake. This black cake that contains peanuts in it is a unique cake why ?, because this one cake is made from taro stems called lompong by Purworejo people and the wrap is made from dried banana leaves called klaras.

That is what makes this cake have its own unique taste.

Some makers of Lompong CakeCake  tried to replace existing packaging materials with plastic or other ingredients, but the results obtained are that the cake becomes sticky. The klaras used must also be dried naturally. Not dry because it is dried in the sun.

In addition to the packaging material that uses claras, another unique feature of this cake is its black color. The black color of this cake comes from lompong or lumbu or taro which is crushed and mixed into the cake mixture. Lompong is used to get black. Usually, to get a more concentrated color, the sponge powder is mixed with the straw.
